Welcome to the CyberCop Secure Information Exchange Network
What is CyberCop?
The CyberCop Portal (https://cybercop.esportals.com) is the leader in bridging system stovepipes between organizations by providing a separate means to collaborate over the web using the security controls necessary to handle sensitive but unclassified law enforcement information. The CyberCop Portal created and hosted by The ESP Group, is entirely Web-based, meaning that no additional software clients need to be downloaded onto users' machines. That allows CyberCop users to enter the portal from any machine, anywhere.
|
 |
The Portal allows users to share libraries of documents and case studies, send secure e-mail, participate in ongoing threaded discussions, create and distribute surveys and share online briefings.
Our mission is to provide individuals an ultra-secure web-based environment to promote and facilitate the sharing of sensitive information among a cohesive network of cyber security, law enforcement, first responders, homeland defense and law enforcement related professionals from all levels of government; international, federal, state, local and the private sector, regardless of department affiliation and jurisdictional boundaries. CyberCop is committed to providing a safe and secure environment where ideas can be freely exchanged to aid individual efforts and foster cooperative efforts in the fight against crime, terrorism and the security of our homeland. |

Why Use CyberCop?
 |
The “CyberCop Portal” demonstrates the potential for highly secure collaboration among users from diverse organizations without the expense and administrative burdens of VPN's or similar security strategies. By combining the use of 128-bit SSL, security hardened operating environments, and tools with highly granular access controls, the portal can be securely accessed from organizations over which the sponsors have no systems configuration control and with no need to install and maintain client software. |
Who is Using CyberCop?
CyberCop is a private sector initiative that is supported by sponsors from both Government and Industry. The CyberCop portal is in use by more than 7,700 members. All 50 states are represented on the portal as are all Government Agencies and over 40 countries.
A number of agencies and organizations at the state and federal level involved in cybercrime law enforcement and INFOSEC pursuits have built and maintained their own sub-communities inside the CyberCop Secure Portal. Some of the major current participating organizations include :
*CyberCop Global – Community granted to members of Sponsoring Organizations or individual professionals that have been accepted to join by the CyberCop Executive Management Team.
*Infragard
*HTCIA
*Officer Safety Alert Bulletin
*Homeland Security Group
CyberCop History

|
The CyberCop portal is owned and operated by The ESP Group LLC. In 1997, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) recognized a need to communicate and collaborate securely over the Web. As a result, they established a multi-agency security team, the Security Policy Board, to review and select the most secure technologies available to accomplish this task. The result was the Extranet for Security Professionals (ESP) —a highly secure private external network, accessed over the Web by Secret-cleared national and cyber security professionals to share sensitive but unclassified information.
|
With the successful prototype of the ESP secure collaboration portal, DARPA transitioned the technology to Carnegie Mellon University's Software Engineering Institute to further mature the security architecture and underlying technology. In line with its technology-transfer mission, DARPA then supported the commercialization of the technology. In 2000, the ESP Group LLC was formed to provide secure web-hosted collaboration systems based on the ESP technology. This technology created at DARPA was used to establish what we know today as “CyberCop”, with the mission of serving the law enforcement and security community as a secure collaboration network . Along the way, we met several "CyberCops" and saw the need for a secure collaboration capability among law enforcement, first responders, homeland defense and similar professions. In response, we created the CyberCop Portal.
